FSU football beat rival Florida Gators for the fourth consecutive time in dominating fashion Saturday night. Are Florida Fans Frustrated With Jim McElwain?

FSU fans know all about being frustrated with a football coach. We can point to FSU defensive coordinator Charles Kelly earlier this season, or Jimbo Fisher and the LSU rumors the past few weeks.

One thing they have not had to be frustrated about is losing to in-state rivals Florida and Miami. Jimbo Fisher has dominated those two rivals like no other in his seven years at FSU.

He’s 13-1 against both schools since becoming head coach at FSU football in 2010 and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Miami has been competitive with FSU football during most of their games over the past few years, but the same can’t be said for Florida whose offense has become a joke for the most part.

That’s something Florida fans are becoming increasingly frustrated as they have failed to score offensive touchdowns the past two years against FSU football.

Check out some of the comments from the Gator Country forums:

"You don’t get better unless you recruit better and this head coach and staff are not doing that. We will continue to struggle against good teams until we start getting elite players in this program.Be honest and take off your orange and blue glasses, if you were a stud offensive player why in your right mind would you want to play in this offense?"

"Mac’s leash is getting shorter and shorter with each loss."

"something of epic proportions needs to happen to the offensive line.as long as we don’t have an ace recruiter, we’re never going to improve up front….. never."

"I’ve been thinking this since last year, but Mac lacks alot of self awareness or his ego prevents him from having it. Smart ass at halftime when you’re down, salty when the loss comes to fruition. Bad look for the head coach at a major program."

"Mac needs to realize he won’t get time to as he says get there unless he makes some coaching changes and puts these transfer QBs on the bench! Austin’s presser was horrible as well."

"We suck. Until we start getting top 5 recruiting classes, we’ll continue to suck. Mac is a good coach, but a mediocre recruiter. That means we’ll always be good enough for people to be in denial about how lame we are compared to how we should be."

Thoughts

The last fan comment speaks the truth like no other. Florida isn’t bringing in the same type of top-tier players that Will Muschamp brought in during his time in Gainesville.

Those players will be exiting the program soon enough and then the three-stars that McElwain is bringing in will be the norm. That means more mediocrity.

However, it’s hard to make a move on a coach when he has taken his team to the SECCG two years in a row, only to get obliterated by Alabama.
