Final Thoughts

Did you notice a common theme? The defense played well for the most part and didn’t give up a touchdown for the first time all season.

They held Wake Forest to 3.81 yards per play which is a yard below their season average. It was also promising that the result came against a spread offense. Granted, Wake Forest doesn’t have the most talented players, but the FSU defense still needed to be in position in they were for the most part.

The offensive line play was atrocious, but that’s nothing new for you that have been reading this site. Other sites have tried to place blame elsewhere, but make no mistake about it, the FSU offensive line has been terrible most of the year.

Deondre Francois does hold onto the ball too long every once in a while, but most of the time the offensive line whiffs on blocks and he gets crushed.

In fact, Francois got sacked on a third and long late in the game with Wake Forest rushing THREE defenders. It wasn’t a coverage sack either.

That has to get fixed, or Deondre Francois will not make it to end of the season as the starting quarterback. One could argue that he shouldn’t have played against Wake Forest Saturday.

It was clear he wasn’t managing pain, as he was actually playing hurt/injured.
