FSU football will travel to Papa John’s Saturday for a huge ACC divisional game against No. 10 Louisville. What are the Cardinal fans saying about the FSU game?

There’s nothing wrong with fans being confident in their team. Heck, a lot of FSU fans are extremely high on this FSU team this season and rightfully so.

The Louisville Cardinals are one of the hottest teams in all of college football, and will have a chance to finally prove they are for real when FSU football comes to town.

I perused a Louisville forum trying to gauge Louisville fans thoughts on FSU. Their thoughts were mostly realistic in my opinion. Of course, there was a head scratcher or two though.

Check them out below:

"OffenseNo more dropped passes. I have no idea what is going on with Reggie, but he looked lethargic in that last game. Cole had 2 dropped passes, Radcliff dropped a wide open pass….could you imagine the stats for Lamar if those passes were caught? No more turnovers. That has been an issue. Louisville had 3 TO’s to 1 against Charlotte and 3 TO’s to 2 for the Cuse. That is 6 TO’s in 2 games. That will NOT work against FL ST.DefenseNo more quarters of football with what looks like lack of focus. Poor tackling and coverage of the WR’s. Pitt and FL St both had huge quarters against the D last year…that cannot happen on Sat.Fields needs to be more of a presence. I know last week was hard due to the speed in which the QB got rid of the ball, but he must be a factor in the FSU game. If not getting sacks…putting pressure on their QB and containing him because he can run if flushed. Both O and DNo more stupid penalties. 9 penalties for 100 yards.I would think with FL ST being the opponent you would have more focus and much of the above would be taken care. Either way, to win Sat Louisville is going to need a near perfect game.I think they are going to score alot regardless of what we try. The key for me is if we get 3 takeaways we win.We can have dropped passes, turnovers and penalties and still beat FSU. It will take a great effort to beat them but we don’t have to be perfect.I would love to see a completely clean game but I think we have the QB and the offense to overcome even if the game isn’t clean."

All those make sense for the most part.

"BS. We don’t need to play a perfect game to win, THEY need to play a perfect game to win."

And Mr. I drank all the Louisville Kool-Aid wastes no time before making an appearance.

"We need to play good team football and play as a unit on both sides of the ball.I think the kids might have been overlooking FSU a bit during the SU game. They played great, lacked a little focus. I don’t expect that to be a problem, everyone will be up and giving their all here."

"I think this is our first season in the ACC that we’ve had a better team than Clemson and FSU. We can’t kill ourselves with penalties and we need to catch the ball. If we do those two things we’ll beat FSU Saturday."

So, by beating Charlotte and Syracuse it has been concluded that Louisville has the better team? OK.

"I’m concerned about the hurry up offense, it killed us last year. I would like to see us get the RB’s involved early in this game"

Huh? FSU doesn’t go up tempo often at all.

"O-Line cannot collapse. This will be the best defense we have seen. Lamar must have time to execute. No turnovers. Period.D must get pressure. No excuses. FSU doesn’t run a gimmick offense. They’re just freaking good. Have to get in hurry up situations.Don’t get beat over the top. Syracuse almost had a lot of big plays down field. That’s how FSU ran us before after being down. We cannot let that happen.Get off the field. Syracuse was >50% on third down conversions until we opened it up. FSU will take total advantage of us on 3rd down."

"We will learn alot about defense on Saturday. It was real good at times against SU but there were times SU made it look like swiss cheese and that concerns me."

Sensible.

"I don’t like that we rushed so many people in the Syracuse game, that we left the middle of the field wide open several times for large gains for Syracuse,. FSU will have a field day if we do that playing them.We need to play defense for a full game…not take a quarter off. We got Lamar he is going to do what he does we just need to get him on the field so the Defense needs to give 110% Saturday. We do that and we shut up everyone up.Lamar has to take care of the ball.Defense make open field tackles.Contain Cook. He gashed us last year!Contain Cook. He gashed us last year!Worried about the strategy. If anyone can figure it out, it’s Bobby, but remembering back to two years ago when the team was totally gassed in the second half. Bobbys strategy is to wear out the defense and pound in the fourth. Not sure that’ll work against FSU but we’ll see. Offense has to have sustained drives to get D some rest. Dalvin Cook against a winded D will spell disaster"

More sensible.

"Cook will get in the defensive backfield and he is a horse. But we absolutely have to stop him from breaking big plays. He’s going to get through the line, so it will be up to our backfield to wrap up and tackle, even if he drags a player 5 yards after contact. 2.> Turnovers and penalties have to be minimized. We can’t afford either against FSU. Because they will absolutely capitalize on them. They are good enough that you can’t spot them 5 yards or its another 1st down. 3.>Special teams. We can’t afford to make mistakes here. A missed field goal, a blocked punt, etc. can turn a game in a heartbeat. I think we can play with FSU, but they are a team that will kill you if you make mistakes. They are talented enough to take quite a bit away from us, but the beauty of our offense is that you have to give something up defensively to do that. If I’m Florida State I’m parking my two safeties on both hashes REALLY deep (15 yards plus), I’m playing five across zone underneath to keep my eyes on Jackson and I’m telling what is an outstanding front four that this game is yours to win or lose because you’re not going to beat us deep. Whatever Lamar has proven thus far, patience with checkdowns and accuracy in the intermediate throwing windows hasn’t been demonstrated yet.If we get running yardage out of our RB corps and don’t turn the football over–and I can’t be the only one alarmed at the abundance of times we’ve laid the ball on the turf–we are going to be really tough to beat Saturday. Because all defensive eyes HAVE to be on Lamar Jackson, misdirection will bring about big play yields and FSU has broken down alot in their secondary already this year.Oh, and tackle Dalvin Cook."

Reaction

So overall, it looks like most of this small sample of Louisville fans understand the game and what’s before them. It should be a great game and great atmosphere.
