FSU vs. N.C State 2012

Some people might have put this one in the No. 1 spot for worst loss. I don’t for two reasons.

  • The game took place at Carter Finley Stadium on a Thursday night
  • N.C. State had a NFL caliber quarterback in Sean Glennon under center

FSU football rolled into Raleigh that Saturday night as 14 point favorites. They had just won a huge primetime game against Clemson two weeks earlier, and had beaten the brakes off the Wolfpack 34-0 the prior year.

The ‘Noles had a 16-0 lead at the half and seemingly were content with that lead as they were held scoreless in the second half.

The worse part of this game was watching Sean Glennon shred Mark Stoops defense with the same slant routes over and over while converting three of four fourth downs.

The loss effectively ended any national championship talk at the time, but at least the ‘Noles went on to win the ACC.
