FSU Football’s Best Players For The 2016 Season: No. 10
By Jason Parker
Here is a look at some of the best players for FSU football heading into the 2016 season.
When FSU football kicks off the 2016 season in just over one month against the Ole Miss Rebels from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, there is plenty of expectation for what the year will have in store for the Seminoles. Coming off a national championship just three years ago, Florida State is expected to be one of the early favorites for a spot in the College Football Playoff after the regular season.
How far the Seminoles will go (and if they can win the fourth national championship in program history) will depend on the play of their talent roster. With arguably the deepest group of talent in the history of FSU football, the 2016 ‘Noles could go down as the best team in school history of things play out as expected.
The question remains unanswered, though: who are the best 10 players on the 2016 FSU football roster. It’s a hard question to answer, with talent on both sides of the ball including maybe the best players at certain positions in the entire country.
It’s a question that saw talents like wide receiver Auden Tate, cornerback Tarvarus McFadden and quarterbacks Malik Henry and Sean Maguire not make the final cut…which should tell you something about the talent that did make our list.
Here’s our countdown of the best 10 players on the 2016 FSU football team.
No. 10 – Levonta Taylor (Defensive Back / Returner)
Freshman / Virginia Beach, VA (Ocean Lake)
Taylor hasn’t even stepped foot on the field for FSU football in a live practice, but his impact has already been felt for the 2016 Seminoles. A long time commit, Taylor went out of his way to work in getting other top recruits to join him in Tallahassee to keep the momentum train going and keeping FSU football loaded for conference and national titles runs in years to come.
Barring a major setback or injury during fall practices leading up to the season, Taylor will be in the starting lineup as both a defensive back and returner when the Seminoles open up the season against Ole Miss. He is that good of a talent that he could easily be the best player on the team after just one season of college ball.
As the Seminoles look to replace All-American Jalen Ramsey, Taylor seems to fit the bill passed on his size and speed, which should make him ready to for the 2016 opener. He likely won’t be put up against other team’s top receivers to start things off, but don’t be surprised if Taylor is the number one corner come the month of October, when the ‘Noles have a tough stretch of games that include North Carolina, Miami and Clemson.
In a segment of the Seminoles’ team that has produced some of the best in the history of college football (Deion Sanders, Terrell Buckley, Ramsey, etc.), Taylor could be the next great player sooner than expected.
