FSU Football: Quarterback Thoughts Post-Spring Game

You
probably
should have read why I thought Maguire should be the starter in the fall. The experience in Jimbo Fisher’s system is huge and the FSU football schedule early on is no cakewalk.

Maguire is a player that you have to respect. He has been in the system playing behind Jameis Winston, and helped FSU beat Clemson in 2014 in his lone start of that season.
Everett Golson transfers from Notre Dame and takes the starter gig over him. However, halfway through the season Maguire comes into the NC State game down 17-7 after Golson becomes a turnover machine to help lead the ‘Noles to a 34-17 victory.
Maguire gets hurt in the bowl game, but comes back to finish the game on a fractured ankle. The kid is tough, he’s a gunslinger that’s not afraid to stay in the pocket and the deliver the ball downfield.
However, he is limited talent wise. It’ll be interesting to see how he looks when he fully recovers from the ankle injury. I believe he’s going to have a fight on his hands to keep the starting job now that I’ve seen the younger quarterbacks in action.
