FSU Football: 2016 Schedule Breakdown (Game By Game)
By Kelvin Hunt
The Rebels are a great team to open up against, sort of like Oklahoma State in 2014 but better. They’re from the SEC conference, had a good bowl win at the end of the season, but much of the talent has departed(especially on defense).
The expectations for FSU football are high in 2016, and this Ole Miss game will be a great measuring stick to either hype or quell those expectations.
The Ole Miss defense that was so good in 2015? Will have holes in the secondary and at the linebacker positions. Chad Kelly(formerly of Clemson) is a very good quarterback, but will have a relatively new offensive line protecting him. He will not have top receiver Laquon Treadwell to throw to either since he’ll be playing on Sunday’s.
The benefits of getting Ole Miss early in the season can’t be understated here. The FSU offense returns almost everyone, and the same goes for the defense except for Ramsey, Terrance Smith and Reggie Northrup.
FSU should have a leg up on Ole Miss there, plus will be playing closer to home with the game being in Orlando.
