Trending Down: P.J. Williams

P.J. Williams is one of Florida State’s leaders on defensive and one of the nation’s elite cornerbacks, which is why his performance Saturday was rather surprising. He just happened to have an off game, some of which wasn’t really his fault. Syracuse’s young QBs dropped some perfect passes into their WRs, and they were to Williams’ man more than once.

That man was Steve Ishmael, who only caught three balls, to Williams’ credit; but those few grabs were good for 93 yards and two scores. Williams just looked off– almost like he wan’t expecting it out of the Orange. And maybe he wasn’t. But that won’t happen again this week. He’ll no doubt be ready to redeem himself in the big-game environment Saturday night; look for him to step up and make plays at a sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium.
