Trending Up: Travis Rudolph

A Florida State offense that has often looked to be lacking a consistent spark has found one. Rudolph fielded a number of tunnel screens, and was electric with the ball in his hands. His blazing-fast feet enable him to cut effectively while maintaining his speed and getting vertical. His freshman cohort Ermon Lane broke him free nicely with key blocks on the line, an absolute key to the play.

Much was made of Jesus “Bobo” Wilson’s emergence as a complement to Rashad Greene and a No. 2 receiver, but he’s best suited in the slot. Rudolph, who caught six balls for 46 yards, looks like a solid Z-WR for the ‘Noles moving forward. With his speed, size (6-2, 184) and ability to evade tacklers (which was somewhat reminiscent of Seminole great Peter Warrick), Rudolph is one of the few ‘Noles who is in scoring position anywhere on the field, and for that reason, he’ll continue to see more of it.
