What to Watch For: FSU vs. Wake Forest

1 of 6

Here’s what to watch for in this weekend’s game featuring FSU vs. Wake Forest.

Coming off an exciting, come-from-behind win over NC State last weekend, the Florida State Seminoles head into a weekend match-up with one of the weakest offenses in recent college football memory.

By every metric, the Wake Forest offense has been abysmal this season. The Demon Deacons can’t run the ball, they can’t throw the ball and they can’t block. The result is one of the most hapless units in recent history. Wake Forest averages just a hair over one yard per rushing attempt. It averages just 3.6 yards per play. Florida State has played mid-majors and FCS schools that packed more of a punch than the Demon Deacons.

And that’s why Wake Forest is just what the doctor ordered for a Florida State defense that just had one of its worst performances, ever, under Jimbo Fisher.

The FSU defense has no shortage of athletes– the problem isn’t talent. It’s just a matter of putting it all together and that starts with confidence. Fortunately, this is the type of opponent that builds confidence. FSU’s defense should have little trouble handling the Deacons, which will allow it to focus on eye discipline, gap control and a lot of the little nuances that have yet to happen consistently.
