3.) The Freshmen WR’s Take Their Turn

Jimbo Fisher told reporters after practice on Thursday that five-star freshman receivers Ermon Lane and Travis Rudolph would both be a bigger part of the rotation at wide receiver on Saturday.

“15 and 1 have had tremendous weeks,” said Fisher. “I’m very proud [of them]. Sometimes it takes [a while]. You have a great week and then you hit that freshman-itis — I call it — and all of the sudden it just clicks back in.

“They are playing fast, they know what to do. I’m very happy with their progress and they’ll definitely play. And that’s not because of any lack of happiness with anybody else. I just think they’re ready. They’re really ready.”

This is huge news for a receiving corps that was depleted by the NFL draft last year and hasn’t found its stride yet this season. Bobo Wilson’s return has been a great addition, and Rashad Greene and Nick O’Leary are known quantities, but there’s still plenty of production left to be replaced with Kelvin Benjamin and Kenny Shaw departed– and Rudolph and Lane are two of the most promising young guys on the roster.

If they can put it together in Raleigh, one of them could be in line to really make a big first-year impact.
