Wake Forest – October 4th
2013 Record: 4-8
Returning Starters: 5 on offense, 5 on defense
Wake Forest is in major rebuilding mode under first year head coach Dave Clawson. The Deacs must replace their starting QB (Tanner Price), leading rusher (Josh Harris), top receiver (Michael Campanaro), and their best defender (Nikita Whitlock). Clawson brings with him — from Bowling Green — a spread-type offense that will have a more open attack. Tyler Cameron has the inside edge to be the team’s starting QB. There is a lot of youth in the backfield and on the perimeter.
The defense returns 5 starters on a team that ranked 32nd in total defense during 2013. They will need to find a replacement for Whitlock, who was their best player a season ago. The Deacs under Dave Clawson will have their hands full in this one. The last two matchups between these two teams resulted in a combined score of 111-3.
This one could get ugly, too.
