 Wide Receivers-Metal Gear Solid

As a whole the wide receivers are going to be compared to the Metal Gear Solid franchise. I mean, there is just too much going on with this receiving corp to keep up with. Guys are falling off the team left and right for academic, suspension and injury reasons. Much like a plot in any Metal Gear game, keeping up with who is actually on the team or what is what at this point seems unimportant. It really just comes down to us enjoying the ride.

Some of the players are easily comparable to the MSG characters. None of them are like main bosses (or anything that awesome), but someone physically impressive like Kelvin Benjamin does remind me of a football playing Cyborg Ninja. The biggest difference between the two is the fact Benjamin doesn’t hide behind a literal mask or body of armor. Instead, he wears a facemask and puts on shoulder pads as his armor of choice.

Kenny Shaw is a smaller, shifty receiver. A guy who relies on deception as much as ability. Someone eerily similar to Vamp. Thankfully for fans of Florida State, however, Shaw is a good guy — not an ambiguous character who we might have sympathy for, but know is an evil-doer.

Rounding up a few of the other players: Jesus Wilson is Physco Mantis because, awesomeness. Isaiah Jones is Revolver Ocelot thanks to his ability to adapt to his new surroundings. Levonte “Kermit” Whitfield can easily be compared to Gray Fox for everyone hoping he is at FSU to save the day (yes, I know Cyborg Ninja and….never mind). Since he is the real deal, maybe Rashad Greene can be Solid Snake, then, I guess.

It is also worth mentioning that the suspended — possibly to never be a Florida State player again — Gregory Dent is a combination of the much hated character, Raiden, and The Sorrow (self-explanatory).
