FSU football hasn’t played as well as one would have hoped on defense in 2019. However, Hamsah Nasirildeen has been a huge bright spot.

FSU football needed a huge win against Boston College to put itself in position to start a new bowl streak with a win this week against Alabama State.

A huge part of that win was FSU junior safety Hamsah Nasirildeen’s performance. He racked up 22 total tackles with 11 solo efforts to lead the Noles against a physical running team.

It was an amazing effort, but one that’s been consistent all season as he’s racked up double-digit tackles in four of the 10 games he’s played in(albeit he didn’t play much in the Louisville game).

He’s racked up 44 tackles in the last three games and his stock is beginning to rise quickly as he’ll be eligible for the NFL Draft next season if he opts to go that route.

Thoughts

Nasirildeen is on pace to cross the 100 tackles mark as he has 85 tackles through 10 games. The Noles will likely have three more games to play provided they beat Alabama State this week.

The only FSU player to surpass 100 tackles in a season during the last decade is linebacker Reggie Northrup in 2014.

He finished with 122 tackles in 14 games as the Noles won the ACC and then made the inaugural playoffs. Nasirildeen is averaging 8.5 tackles per game which is just below the 8.71 average Northrup had as a linebacker.

The crazy thing is Nasirildeen is doing this from the safety position. His play this season is garnering more accolades and could see him enter the draft.

I’m not sure he was a sure-fire player to get drafted prior to the season, but that could definitely not be the case if he finishes out the next three games like he’s been playing.
