FSU football has done a solid job of holding recruiting steady coming the worst season in most of our lifetimes. They still have one glaring hole to fill in 2020.

FSU football has landed a few 2020 recruits in the past couple of weeks that have helped address some major needs.

They’ve added a tight end, wide receiver, offensive lineman and a defensive tackle which were all large positions of need.

There are still areas to fill but all of the needs have at least one commitment now. There’s one major hole left and that’s at running back.

The Noles have no commitments thus far though they’re in the mix for several quality running backs.

How legit is the likelihood the Noles land their top targets depends on who you ask. Some believe the Noles have fallen behind on those targets to other schools.

The Saturday Night Live event later this month should tell us a lot about where FSU football stands with this position.

The importance of landing at least two running backs this recruiting cycle can’t be understated.

Cam Akers and Khalan Laborn could potentially leave for the NFL after this season which would leave only one scholarship running back on the roster in Anthony Grant.

The Kendal Briles offense is based on establishing the run first, and of course the running back position is one where a lot of contact is absorbed.

The ability to field quality backs in a must in this offense in the event an injury occurs. That came to light last season when Khalan Laborn went down with a season ending injury in the second game of the year.

There’s likely immediate playing time for true freshmen running backs who choose FSU football. We’ve seen Dalvin Cook and Cam Akers come in and rush for 1,000 yards as true freshmen over the past few seasons.

Running backs in the Kendal Briles offense have rushed for tons of yards with a Randy Clements coached offensive line over the years.

Who do you think will be the first running back the Noles will land to address this huge need for 2020 recruiting cycle?
