FSU football would be the perfect spot for one of the top players in the 2020 class after his recent decommitment from the rival Miami Hurricanes.

With the summer months upon us and plenty of free time on our hands before the FSU football team gets back into action for the 2019 season, the attention of fans has turned to items of interest that won’t have an effect on the Seminoles until after the regular season has come to a conclusion in December.

The recruiting cycle has heated up for the 2020 class and while the Seminoles currently have 12 recruits that have given a verbal commitment to the garnet and gold and a top 10 group overall, head coach Willie Taggart has made it very clear that he won’t stop until the Noles have the best class possible to be a part of #Tribe20.

With what has taken place in the past few days for the FSU football team, there is one major move that could not just catapult the class even higher in the rankings but solidify bragging rights over a hated rival for the Noles.

On Thursday, news broke that one of the top recruits in the state of Florida for the 2021 class – Miami Booker T. Washington High School defensive end Donell Harris – was not just going to reclassify as a member of the 2020 class but was also taking back his commitment from the hometown Miami Hurricanes.

Now, where this is a big deal for the Seminoles is that the move comes just days after he was in Tallahassee taking part in camps with some of the assistant coaches – including longtime defensive line coach Odell Haggins.

For FSU football to land a five star recruit like Harris, the are going to find themselves competing with some of the top programs in the country right now – schools like Alabama and Georgia among that group after visits in the past few days along with the ‘Canes trying to win him back.

Currently, the Seminoles have just one recruit from South Florida in their group of verbal commits for #Tribe20 – four star defensive back Jalen Harrell from Miami Central – but have shown that they are going to go back to recruiting the hotbed in Florida (with four of there 18 recruits from the 2019 class coming from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties).

If the Seminoles can land Harris, it would be a huge get for the class but also a major slap in the face to a hated rival. Imagine if a player who is top five in his class right now leaves his hometown to come to Tallahassee – it will be just like the dynasty era all over again.

Ultimately, Harris has to make the decision that is best for him and his future – and we can only hope that FSU football is the best place for all his hopes and dreams to come true.
