FSU football looks to put their season record back over the .500 mark with a win against Wake Forest Saturday at Homecoming.

FSU football has yet to put it all together in 2018 as every game seems to feature some sort of breakdown or combination of breakdowns in the three phases of the game.

The Virginia Tech game saw breakdowns in all three phases from the defense allowing an opening touchdown to the offense turning the ball over multiple times and special teams getting a punt blocked.

The Samford game again saw the opposing team score on its opening drive which sort of set the tone for the game. FSU’s offense against Syracuse was the culprit there and against Northern Illinois where the Noles had four turnovers.

The Louisville game again saw the defense allow a team to go right down the field on their first few possessions.

The Miami game was FSU’s closest game to being complete until they turned the ball over on back-to-back possessions that led to touchdowns and ultimately a loss against one of its most hated rivals.

Will the Noles finally put it all together coming off the bye week against Wake Forest? They had time to prepare and time for some bumps and bruises to heal.

Wake Forest’s defense hasn’t been able to stop the run all year while the Noles have struggled to establish its run game for the most part.

FSU’s defense has been great against the run and Wake Forest will look to run the ball likely over 40 times in this game and the ‘Noles special teams have seemed to come to life the last few weeks in the punt return game.

Wake Forest allows an average of 10.11 yards per punt return, so it’s possible we could see D.J. Matthews get loose again if FSU football can avoid penalty flags.

The conditions are ripe for the Noles to turn in its best performance of the year. They’ve show steady progress the last few games and hopefully Saturday they can put it all together as they prepare for its toughest slate of games in the coming weeks.
