FSU football already has one of the nation’s top quarterbacks committed for the 2019 class. Could they add a four-star signal-caller to the mix?

During the 2018 recruiting cycle, there was some noise about the fact that FSU football did not sign a quarterback in the class – something that wasn’t the end of the world at the time with James Blackman and Bailey Hockman still having at least two years in school and Deondre Francois returning from injury for the upcoming season.

Still, it’s something that head coach Willie Taggart and his staff have already addressed for the #Tribe19 class when four star recruit Sam Howell verbally committed to the Seminoles ahead of his senior season of high school in North Carolina.

Even with Howell being what many think is a solid commitment to FSU football, the Noles are still going to be looking for signal callers in the upcoming class – and may have found one during a recent camp on campus.

Peter Parrish, a four star quarterback from Alabama, took part in the camp Friday on campus and excelled during the skills portion, even getting some extra time with new offensive coordinator Walt Bell. Parrish is ranked one of the top 10 dual threat quarterbacks while Howell is a top five pro style QB.

While Parrish already has an offer from rival Florida – where new coach Dan Mullen had offered him while coaching at Mississippi State – FSU football may have a slight advantage if they extend an offer for the rising high school senior who actually grew up in the Miami area (h/t Tallahassee Democrat).

"“Ever since I was growing up I had been a Seminole fan,” Parrish said. “My dad, we’re actually from Florida. It means a lot for me to be at the camp right now. I’ve grown up a huge Seminole fan.”"

Now, of course Taggart, Bell and the rest of the staff aren’t going to rest on that fact and assume one offer to Tallahassee will cement his commitment – but the Noles would be smart to stock up on arms for the coming years.

Parrish finished his junior season with over 2,150 combined yards and 31 touchdowns – and the 6’1″ 198 lbs. quarterback said he wouldn’t let Howell’s commitment sway him away from Tallahassee should an offer come in.

"“Competition is going to be there always,” Parrish said. “I’m not afraid of competition. It’s whoever’s the best person that’s going to get the job.”"

Whether FSU football does land Parrish in the coming months is still unknown – but don’t be surprised if another top quarterback prospect from the state of Alabama makes his way down to Tallahassee. Heck, it worked out well the last time.
