FSU football has a 12 game slate that has been called one of the toughest in the country – but one site says it’s not even the toughest in the ACC.

By now, much as been made about the difficult road the FSU football team will have during the 2018 season with a schedule that includes some of the toughest teams in the country – one that has some wondering if the Seminoles can get more than seven wins this season with foes like Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame and more on the slate.

It’s a 12 game regular season schedule that ESPN has ranked the second toughest in all of the FBS at this point, just ahead of ACC member Pittsburgh at No. 3 and Atlantic Division foe Clemson at No. 15. Needless to say, there are plenty of teams who don’t want a piece of what the Noles are going to have to go through.

At the same time, one website says the Seminoles don’t even have the toughest schedule in their own conference if you can believe that. CBSSports.com ranked the schedule of all teams from the ACC and had FSU football at No. 2 behind Georgia Tech.

Now, ESPN says the Yellow Jackets have the No. 21 toughest schedule right now – so let us take a look at why CBS is saying it’s tougher than the Seminoles.

"The nonconference schedule is headlined by a trip to Athens to take on Georgia to finish the regular season, as well as another road trip against South Florida, a team that’s proven to be one of the best programs outside the Power Five in recent years."

Okay, no one is going to argue that the Bulldogs are a better team than the Seminoles’ foe from the SEC, Florida, at this point – but I’m pretty sure our road trip to take on Notre Dame is much more difficult that the Yellow Jackets heading to a half empty NFL stadium in Tampa. Add to that our other two out of conference foes (Samford and Northern Illinois) had a combined record of 16-9 last season while Georgia Tech’s (Alcorn State and Bowling Green) went 9-15.

Hmmm, so far I’m not seeing it. Maybe their argument has to do with the Yellow Jackets’ conference slate.

"Inside the conference, the Jackets draw both Clemson and Louisville from the Atlantic Division and have to take on Virginia Tech on the road. Miami will come to Atlanta."

Clemson, Louisville, Virginia Tech and Miami – where have I heard those four teams before? Oh wait, they are all on the football schedule for FSU football within the first eight games (three in the first six). Georgia Tech’s four remaining ACC opponents went 21-29 last season while the Seminoles are playing four teams (three of whom went bowling) that went 28-23.

I don’t know what the writer of that piece was thinking, because the numbers clearly show that while the Yellow Jackets are going to have a tough slate, it is NOTHING compared to what the Noles have to deal with during the upcoming 2018 college football season.
