FSU football was picked No. 3 in the inaugural 2017 AP college football poll.

Well, it’s official. FSU football will be ranked No. 3 when they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide on September 2nd.

Alabama will be ranked No. 1 as expected, so the billing of the biggest opening game in college football history is taking shape.

The ‘Noles received four first place votes which was one more than Ohio State who is ranked No. 2 overall.

Chop Chat expert Jason Parker has already laid out why FSU Football should be ranked above Ohio State, but I suppose the love affair with the Big 10 continues in 2017 despite them falling flat on their faces last season.

The full poll can be seen here and the top 10 looks like this:

  1. Alabama
  2. Ohio State
  3. FSU
  4. USC
  5. Clemson
  6. Penn State
  7. Oklahoma
  8. Washington
  9. Wisconsin
  10. Oklahoma St.

Thoughts

First of all, let me address that last Twitter comment. If I recall correctly, Michigan destroyed Penn State last season 49-10 and FSU football beat Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

Clemson beat Alabama for the national championship, so that’s why they are ahead of Penn State homie. The same Penn State that lost to a Pittsburgh ACC squad.

I do have to question Ohio State being No. 2 after getting shutout and embarrassed by Clemson in the college football playoff semifinal.

Plus, No. 1 vs. No. 2 would have sounded better when FSU squares off against Alabama in the opener.
