FSU football has played two tight games against Wake Forest of late – and one website believes the Deacs could get the job done over the Noles this season.

When FSU football takes the field for the 2017 season, they will be facing a slate of games that are rivaled by very few teams in a Power Five conference. Aside from late season games with Clemson and Florida, the Seminoles will open the season with September games against Alabama, Miami and a potential trap game against N.C. State.

But, is it a game against Wake Forest that the Noles should worry about? According to one website, yes.

It might be a little bit of a stretch for some Florida State fans to believe considering the fact the Seminoles have won five straight in the series. But, lets not forget that the Demon Deacons, considered for the longest time a football laughing stock, won four of the six games played between 20006 and 2011 – including a 30-0 shutout win in the first of those games.

Bleacher Report released what they called the 10 “realistic” upsets that could send the season into chaos – and they think the Deacs have a real chance:

"Two years ago, they fell 24-16 in Winston-Salem after having a last-ditch pass intercepted in the end zone. Last fall, they lost 17-6 in Tallahassee, getting inside the FSU 25 four times without scoring a touchdown.…BB&T Field can be a tough locale for opponents. It would be no surprise if the Seminoles were pushed hard by the Demon Deacons, who return 13 starters."

Now, I will be the first one to say that FSU football can’t afford to take anyone lightly – especially with all the expectations heading into the season. This one, however, might be somewhat of a stretch.

Yes, Wake Forest returns 13 staters – from a team that couldn’t muster more than six points in last year’s game. Many people don’t realize that the game in 2016 was right after the Seminoles had been through two exhausting games in a loss to North Carolina and a one point win over rival Miami in the previous weekends.

Nothing personal against Wake Forest and their team, but the Noles would be better served working about upset threats from teams like NC State or Boston College before I would put serious worry into the team from Winston-Salem.
