FSU rival Florida has rescheduled their game against LSU that was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew – and it couldn’t have gone worse for the Gators.

As Hurricane Matthew came up toward the coast of Florida during the middle of last week, the University of Florida made a decision – postpone their game on Saturday against LSU out of safety for fans of the schools traveling to the game. It was a move that was hailed by many – and something people though FSU and Miami should do with their game.

The problem came later in the week, when conditions show the game could have been played on Saturday – or at worst, played on Sunday the same way South Carolina and Georgia played their game just one day after that state was drenched by the storm.

So while the Gators and Tigers were sitting home watching football in the sunshine, teams like N.C. State, North Carolina, Duke and others were playing in driving rain and conditions that could only be described as wet.

Needless to say, both teams and the SEC became pressured to reschedule the game. Since both teams didn’t have a common bye week, the two options involved either one or both teams having to move a game or buy out games all together.

The public relations nightmare had already begun as LSU insisted they weren’t going to give up a home game on November 19th, the date that seemed the most logical since the Tigers were schedule to play South Alabama and the Gators were playing FCS foe Presbyterian.

Both teams and officials went back and forth saying the other wasn’t being fair until a solution was made…and now, Florida is traveling to LSU on November 19th to play while both schools will buy out their opponents on that day.

So…just to recap: Florida screwed everything up by deciding to cancel the game when they didn’t need to and now technically lose not one, but TWO home games this season (including their most high profile game at home since they play both Tennessee and FSU on the road this season).

Excuse me for one second…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yes, I did read that part of the deal that says the two teams will now meet in back to back years in Gainesville the next two seasons. Still, things could not have gone worse for the men in orange and blue. They bowed down while LSU showed muscle and forced their way into keeping a home game they weren’t entitled to.

For the 2016 season, fans of the Gators will end up with a home schedule of UMass, Kentucky, North Texas, Missouri and South Carolina. Oy, that’s rough. If the school doesn’t offer some kind of refund for this, ticket holders should be up in arms.

In the end, the Gators could not have screwed up this fiasco anymore than they did…and we couldn’t love it any more in the FSU camp!
