Here is a look at some of the best players for FSU football heading into the 2016 season.

When FSU football kicks off the 2016 season in just over one month against the Ole Miss Rebels from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, there is plenty of expectation for what the year will have in store for the Seminoles. Coming off a national championship just three years ago, Florida State is expected to be one of the early favorites for a spot in the College Football Playoff after the regular season.

How far the Seminoles will go (and if they can win the fourth national championship in program history) will depend on the play of their talent roster. With arguably the deepest group of talent in the history of FSU football, the 2016 ‘Noles could go down as the best team in school history of things play out as expected.

The question remains unanswered, though: who are the best 10 players on the 2016 FSU football roster. It’s a hard question to answer, with talent on both sides of the ball including maybe the best players at certain positions in the entire country.

It’s a question that saw talents like wide receiver Auden Tate, cornerback Tarvarus McFadden and quarterbacks Malik Henry and Sean Maguire not make the final cut…which should tell you something about the talent that did make our list.

Here’s our countdown of the best 10 players on the 2016 FSU football team.

No. 6 – Roderick Johnson (Offensive Tackle)

Junior / Florissant, MO (Hazelwood Central)

In 2015, the offensive line for FSU football as much maligned for being a young group that had issues early on in the season when it came to stopping opposing defenses from getting to the quarterback. The one bright spot was the play of a Seminole who has been at multiple positions on the line during his career and could be the next top draft pick when the year is done.

As a freshman in 2014, Johnson came in for the final five games of the season (making his first start on the road at rival Miami) and made an immediate impact, finishing the season on multiple Freshman All-American lists, including both USA Today and Athlon Sports. It set the stage of a 2015 season where Johnson was, without a doubt, the best player on FSU football’s offensive line.

In a season where the coaching staff was trying to figure out how to out together the best offensive line group, Johnson was one of two players who started every game on the line, helping to pave the way for Dalvin Cook to set the single season rushing yard record by the time the season was complete. Johnson finished the year by winning the ACC’s award for top offensive lineman and being named to several All-American teams.

Even before the 2016 season has kicked off, Johnson is projected to be a first round pick in next year’s NFL Draft. His first priority, though, is being the unquestioned leader on the offensive line for FSU football in what could be a memorable season if everything plays out according to plans.
