Florida State Practice Report: Thursday

The Florida State Practice Report provides details from the day’s FSU practice.

Today the media got its last chance to check out FSU prior to its game against The Citadel on Saturday. As is customary, the ‘Noles donned shorts with their helmets and shoulder pads for this Thursday practice. With inclement weather in the area, the team stayed within the confines of the indoor practice facility today. Other notes include:

  • Ronald Darby dressed, and took his place at cornerback during walk throughs, but he was mirrored by Marquez White, to whom he spoke often about footwork for defending option. P.J. Williams, the other starting CB, was not present, again– Jimbo Fisher mentioned that he might get a couple days off. It wouldn’t be surprising for both of these players to sit against The Citadel. In Williams’ spot, per usual, was Nick Waisome.
  • Remaining out is Matthew Thomas. Ukeme Eligwe is not yet practicing, but he was carrying a helmet around today.
  • Chris Casher remains dressed and at practice, but DeMarcus Walker is getting the first-team reps.
  • Jarred “Scooter” Haggins worked in with the first team today, as did Jesus “Bobo” Wilson. Others in the starting rotation included Rashad Greene, Christian Green, and Levonte “Kermit” Whitfield.
  • Dalvin Cook worked in as the third running back, and Ryan Green was dressed as well.
  • Kick coverage ran through some reps. The squad now includes (left to right) Jalen Ramsey, Tyler Hunter, Haggins, Jacob Pugh, kicker Roberto Aguayo, Trey Marshall, Reggie Northrup, Javon Harrison, Terrance Smith, Nate Andrews, and Dalvin Cook.
  • Kick return showed a new look as well: Haggins and Lamarcus Brutus up, with Christian Green, Tyrell Lyons, Ro’Derrick Hoskins, and Nate Andrews just behind them. The penultimate row now features Dalvin Cook and Kevin Haplea flanking E.J. Levenberry, and Bobo Wilson has joined Kermit Whitfield deep.
  • Jimbo Fisher told reporters after practice that PJ Williams will take the weekend off to rest a sore hamstring.
  • Matthew Thomas and Chris Casher will miss this weekend as well.
