Florida State is just a little over an hour from kicking off its season in Dallas — here is your pregame capsule.
The Seminoles are mere minutes from beginning their 2014 football season. The Oklahoma State Cowboys appear to be young and will have a few question marks facing them as they enter tonight, but make no mistake about it — Mike Gundy has the cupboard full for the Cowboys. This could be a real test for the Seminoles.
Jimbo Fisher said earlier this week he hates openers. You chase ghosts. You prepare for tendencies that might not continue this year. It’s tough to know what to expect from a team that you haven’t seen yet this season. That’s why Fisher and his staff have focused on teaching conceptually in an attempt to cover all bases tonight. Couple that with the coaching staff’s ability to make in-game adjustments and the Seminoles should be able to handle whatever the Cowboys throw at them.
FSU is loaded. The offense can score, the defense can stifle. Once Florida State settles into its game, it should be evident why the ‘Noles are heavily favored.
But that doesn’t mean it will be a blowout from the first gun. The Seminoles are likely to give up a score or two tonight, they’re also likely to make a few mistakes, but given the depth and experience the ‘Noles bring to the table they should be able to pull away with this one after the feeling-out period is over.
