The ‘Noles continue to stay hot on the recruiting trail, picking up a commitment from 2016 WR prospect Keith Gavin from nearby Wakulla High School. With two years left to play, Gavin has accumilated 556 yards on 32 catches and 6 TDs so far in his high school career. The 4-star prospect committed to the ‘Noles after visiting the last two days.
Standing 6′ 3″ tall and weighing 210 lbs., he is a very big high school junior. If he continues to grow, he could really use his size as a strength. Gavin’s ability to go up and high-point the football is very impressive, as bigger receivers generally struggle with this as young prospects.
His strength really gives him an advantage, as once he catches the ball, he’s able to shed tackles and break through defenders. He doesn’t have elite speed, but he has the quickness to make defenders miss and the burst to make them pay. Gavin is the total package, and he is a big-time get for the ‘Noles.
Gavin is already the ideal size to line-up outside– what remains to be seen is how much more he may grow prior to making the short move from Crawfordville to Tallahassee.
Gavin is a life-long fan of the ‘Noles, and many people expected him to pull the trigger sooner rather than later. He joins Cedric Wood as the 2nd 2016 commitment– both of whom seem to be quite firm commitments. Gavin picked FSU over offers from Florida, Clemson, Miami, Penn State, Michigan State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, and more.
