Golden Nugget, a Las Vegas casino and sports book, has opening its wagering for a number of 2014 college football games. These “Games of the Year” include eight point spreads for the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles.
These spreads reflect the dominance expected from FSU by the professional handicappers in Vegas. They really are staggering, especially considering that the four games not listed — home contests against The Citadel, Wake Forest, Virginia, and Boston College — will all feature even larger gaps. And while these point spreads will fluctuate as the season progresses, at present, in these games considered the Seminoles’ toughest, Florida State is never less than a two-touchdown favorite:
|8-30-14||Oklahoma State||Arlington, TX||FSU||17|
|9-27-14||NC State||Raleigh, NC||FSU||30|
|10-18-14||Notre Dame||Tallahassee, FL||FSU||24|
|11-15-14||Miami||Miami Gardens, FL||FSU||14.5|
What do you think of these lines? Will Miami be the Seminoles’ stiffest competition? Which numbers are too low– and too high?
