The Florida State Seminoles added another piece to their impressive 2015 recruiting class today, gaining a verbal commitment from Michael Barnett, the nation’s 11th-ranked strong-side defensive end.
To say that Barnett is a physical specimen is an understatement: at 6-5, 255, he runs a 4.7 40. Barnett is a product of Dorchester, SC and is considered the #4 prospect in the state. He committed after attending the recently concluded Jimbo Fisher camp at FSU and being instructed by current Seminoles, including fellow defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr.
North Carolina State was considered FSU’s primary competition in securing Barnett’s services, but he boasts an impressive offer list, including Alabama, Florida, Clemson, LSU, and Georgia. His commitment comes just days after the ‘Noles received a verbal pledge from 4-star LB Sh’mar Kilby-Lane. Barnett is the first DE of Florida State’s 2015 class.
