FSU's last LB Commit: Analysis & Film

The ‘Noles got a surprise recently, sealing a verbal commit from 4-star OLB Sh’mar Kilby-Lane. Standing at 6′ 2” and weighing 215 lbs., Kilby-Lane already has the physical stature, and the film matches that stature.

The first thing that jumps out at me while watching his film is that Kilby-Lane is a punishing hitter. Numerous times, he comes out of nowhere on special teams and destroys opponents. He’s excellent in run support, showing amazing burst into the backfield to tackle RBs and sack QBs. Kilby-Lane also has the ability to be a prescence in pass coverage.

The ‘Noles get a very dynamic player in Kilby-Lane, as he is a very good player in all facets of the game. Not every guy can avoid a redshirt, but I expect him to find a niche on special-teams right away.

FSU beat out Ohio State and Alabama for Kilby-Lane’s services. The key will be holding onto him, as there are eight months until signing day. Considering he brought his family with him on his last trip to commit, however, I’d say his commitment is pretty firm.
