The 40s have been run. The film has been analyzed. And the flashy suits have been picked out. Everything is set for the NFL Draft on Thursday– all that remains is to see who’s picked when. And due to recently breaking news, a trio of Florida State defenders may be waiting longer than they hoped.
According to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan and linebackers Telvin Smith and Christian Jones failed their drug tests at the NFL Combine in February. What remains to be seen is how this will affect the talented Seminoles’ draft statuses.
Foregoing his senior season to enter the draft, Jernigan is considered by most to be a first-round talent. Smith and Jones project to go in later rounds, but now the question becomes: how many team executives will bulk at drafting young men who failed a test they knew they’d be given?
