The 2013 Florida State Seminoles returned college football’s National Championship to Tallahassee after their title-game victory over Auburn in January. And per a release today from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a future champion could be decided just up the road.
The Chick-fil-A Bowl — which, as of today, will return to its roots by being known as the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, is set to aggressively pursue the 2018 National Championship game. The bowl is already set to host a 2017 semifinal, and should be viewed as a legitimate contender to secure the big game a year later, given Atlanta’s history of hosting championship events.
The possibility of Atlanta as a title-game destination also makes sense since the last eight National Champions have come from the southeastern US. This should come as particularly welcome news to ‘Nole fans– it’s difficult to imagine a closer realistic location for college football’s biggest game.
