Jimbo Fisher was down in Tampa last week to watch the Florida State University baseball team take on the New York Yankees in an exhibition game at Steinbrenner Field. While he was there he caught up with YES Network’s Jack Curry for a seven minute interview about — amongst other things — Jameis Winston, his coaching influences, his parents and even his time as a ballplayer at Clemson University.
Among the highlights:
– Jameis Winston takes batting practice on Sundays during football season.
– Fisher says he loves football, but is a baseball fan at heart.
– On throwing the first pitch later that day: “It’s more pressure than calling the national championship play in a two minute drive.”
– Fisher also credits his parents for the sacrifices they made for him growing up, says despite working 16 hours a day he is in an office, “I don’t scrape the surface of how hard my father worked.”
