FSU Football: WR Kelvin Benjamin Headed to the 2014 NFL Draft

After being one of the major pieces in helping the Florida State Seminoles capture their third national championship this past Monday, redshirt sophomore wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin will head off to the professional ranks now as he has decided to throw his name into the 2014 NFL Draft.

Monday night in Pasadena, Benjamin had the highlight of his short career when he caught the game-winning touchdown against the Auburn Tigers from Jameis Winston with 13 seconds to go on a beautiful jump grab, utilizing that 6-6 frame that makes him so popular among NFL scouts.

In the 2013 season, Benjamin opened everyone’s eyes by being Jameis’ main target, grabbing 54 balls for 1,011 yards and 15 touchdowns. It was a stark contrast from his 2012 season where he had some struggles with finding open spaces and dropping some easy passes in his direction.

Benjamin leaves Tallahassee with 84 catches for 1,506 yards and 19 touchdowns.

But everyone will always remember him for, ‘The Catch.’

As great of a season he had, he is still a bit raw. Another year in the system would help him dramatically. I wish him the best in the NFL but really wish he would see the picture outside of the signing bonus.
