For now, while not completely dead altogether, you can lock away those Jimbo Fisher to the Texas Longhorns rumors as it’s being reported this morning that the school and the head coach of the number-one ranked team in the country have agreed on a contract extension.

The deal is for five years and $20.5 million, and our friends over at Tomahawknation are also stating that it took the Florida State head coach a little bit longer to put his name on the paper because he was looking for a bit more coin for the assistants on staff.

With this announcement, the rumors of Coach Fisher heading to Austin to take over for Mack Brown are all but gone. While there is a possibility that the brass at Texas could still make a run, they would have to dig significantly deep into their pockets to make the move happen. With the other rumored, big-name candidates being discussed, it’s highly unlikely that they would go to those lengths.
