On Monday afternoon, 16 semifinalists for the coveted Davey O’Brien Award, recognizing the top collegiate quarterback in the nation for a given season, were announced and Florida State’s own Jameis Winston was among the names on that list.
It has been a more than spectacular year for the redshirt freshman as he’s not only met the expectations that were set for him, he’s exceeded them.
In leading the ‘Noles to an undefeated record thus far, including two wins over Top-10 ranked teams, Winston has 2,502 yards with 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He’s completed just a shade over 70% of his passes and boasts an incredible 201.1 QBR.
Through eight games this year, Winston has five 300-yard passing games, including his most recent one in the Seminoles’ rout of the Miami Hurricanes this past Saturday.
Jameis is joined by Clemson Tigers QB Tajh Boyd on this list representing the ACC.
This is just another accolade that you can add to Jameis’ long list so far, as many experts have called him undoubtedly the best quarterback in the nation.
