It’s time for the Florida State Seminoles, and their fans, to put last week’s huge win over the Clemson Tigers behind them and focus on the task at hand. Saturday, the N.C. State Wolfpack make their way into Tallahassee and Doak Campbell Stadium for an ACC showdown.
As if anyone needed to be reminded, although N.C. State may not seem like a threat on paper, this game carries some huge weight. Last season, when the Seminoles were again ranked within the Top 5 as they are now, they traveled to Raleigh and gave up 17 unanswered points in the second half and were upset 17-16.
But, these are two completely different teams this season.
Under first-year head coach Dave Doeren, this Wolfpack team is still struggling to find it’s identity. A few weeks ago, they nearly took the honor away from the ‘Noles of handing Clemson their first loss on the year as they were narrowly defeated at home, 26-14. Since then, after defeating Central Michigan, they’ve lost two in a row to Wake Forest and Syracuse.
Florida State, on the other hand, is on a massive high as they continue to keep rolling, especially on offense. Although, with James Wilder Jr. out this week with a concussion, Karlos Williams should see some added carries in the backfield in this one.
With the inconsistencies of the Wolfpack and the momentum the ‘Noles are carrying with them, coupled with the obvious emotion of this being Coach Bowden’s return to Doak, Florida State should have this one in control early.
