Although Florida State narrowly missed out on the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes a few months ago, life must go on, and today it did. Leonard Hamilton and staff have secured a verbal commitment from power forward Cinmeon Bowers out of Florida.
Bowers is a 6-7, 261-pound JUCO transfer out of Marianna Chipola College. Bowers had taken a visit to Tallahassee over this past weekend and obviously fell in love with the notion of playing for Hamilton and staff.
In speaking to 247Sports about the visit, Bowers had this to offer:
“It went well,” Bowers told Noles247.com on Monday. “I liked it. I had been there before, so I was familiar with it.”
“The facilities are real nice,” Bowers said. “Great training facility.”
This is the first commitment for the Seminoles’ basketball program in 11 months. News like this was needed following the recent announcement of the ineligibilty of Xavier Rathan Mayes.
Last season for Chipola, Bowers averaged 11 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, starting 12 out of 26 games. He chose FSU over the defending national champion Louisville Cardinals and the Memphis Tigers.
