Prognostication: Jesus Wilson committed to the Florida State Seminoles back in June of 2012, eventually signing with the ‘Noles back in February. When he did sign that National Letter of Intent, he had the entire fan base buzzing. Ranked the 56th best wide receiver prospect in the country by 247Sports, the FSU coaching staff was delighted that the Miami native decided to spurn offers from such schools as Oklahoma State Cowboys, West Virginia Mountaineers and the hometown Miami Hurricanes in their favor. Given the recent string of bad luck lately as it pertains to Seminoles wideouts, Jesus Wilson should have an opportunity to prove that he can make a contribution to this team right off the bat.
Strengths: Of all the talents that Jesus Wilson is in possession of, his innate quickness is probably the most eye-opening. He’s able to switch gears with his speeds rather quickly, which translates into him being a potentially dangerous slot receiver. When you add to that that he’s also a very crisp route runner, you have quite the scary outlet option for the quarterback when nothing on the outside is open. Wilson has the tools to turn a five-yard gain into a much longer result. It also wouldn’t be much of a shock to see him excel as a special teams member as well.
Weaknesses: While Wilson has the tools to make it as a successful slot man, it’ll be interesting to see how his small frame can hold up over time taking hits over the middle, the ones that he won’t be fortunate enough to maneuver away from.
