Florida State Lands DT Prospect Dexter Wideman

The Florida State Seminoles have been on the proverbial recruiting binge as of late. Monday happened to be no different as defensive prospect, Dexter Wideman, announced that he verbally committed to the program.

Landing Wideman comes as a wee-bit of a surprise. Many experts figured that the four-star recruit would stay in his home state of South Carolina. Regardless, somewhere right now Jimbo Fisher is smiling ear-to-ear as Dexter Wideman is the football program’s 22nd commit for the 2014 recruiting class — one that many outlets have ranked as one of the top-5 (even as high as two) recruiting classes in the country.

6’4″ and 255-pounds of man-beast, Wideman isn’t going to be the biggest defensive tackle that Florida State has ever recruited. His lack of size, however, won’t end up being a huge obstacle. Most of the time athletic linemen will come in a little undersized anyway — nothing some hamburgers and a little work at that gym can’t fix.

In a recurring theme — that is sweeping college recruiting by storm — Wideman didn’t wait for a news outlet to break the story. Instead, he took to the mean streets of Twitter to let the free world know he was taking his talents to Tallahassee. Granted, Wideman only has 644 followers. So it did take a lot of retweets for the news to spread, but I think it is safe to assume he’ll gain a few extra follows in the new couple of hours.

No word on whether or not that randomly capitalized ‘T’ had any significance or if Dexter Wideman’s fingers are so massive that he hit the shift button while slamming on the keyboard (that would be really, really big fingers).
