Tuesday is here and that means another day of a billion players being randomly tossed on a preseason watch list. Today it happens to be for the nation’s top wideout — the Biletnikoff Award. Thankfully for Nole Nation a Seminole did land on the list. Junior ball-catcher, Rashad Greene, is the lone FSU receiver on the Biletnikoff Award watch list.
Greene being on the list doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Considering there is essentially every player who is eligible to catch a pass this year on the list, it is a prerequisite to make sure a Nole also gets on because, Peter Warrick.
The Florida State Seminoles do have a pretty awesome history as far as guys catching passes from future NFL busts go. None may have been more fun to watch than Warrick — who would run sideline to sideline like a video game character of himself until he scored a touchdown.
I don’t have any inside information on the matter. Still, even while ignoring ‘available facts’, I think it is safe to assume that Warrick smiled when he found out that another player from his former stomping grounds made the preseason watch list.
For Greene, however, this is just a very small accomplishment in a season full of high expectations. Lucky for him, though, the rest of the Noles have to help carry the burden of a state’s lofty expectations along with him.
There is a good chance he lives up to those as well. Last season saw Greene catch 57 (different) footballs with his hands. That, in turn, resulted in 741 receiving yards and 6 touchdown celebrations.
Here is to hoping Greene runs sideline to sideline until he scores, but doesn’t finish his football career with Cincinnati Commandos.
